Fourth Annual Great Northwoods Service Learning Conference

Theme: Building Partnerships with Service Learning

Sponsored by: UW-Extension, UW Colleges, Wisconsin Campus Compact, and the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service

Held in Wausau on Feb. 12, 2010, this conference was co-sponsored by UW- Extension, UW Colleges, WIPPS, and Wisconsin Campus Compact. Over 60 people gathered to hear keynote Bob Franco, Coordinator of Planning and Grants Development at Kapioplani Community College in Honolulu, and to attend an array of workshops with topics that included beginning to advanced service learning, distance education and service learning, assessment of service learning, and community partnerships. The conference was notable for bringing together UW Colleges faculty and administrators to discuss the future of service learning and the creation of a Colleges-wide Service Learning Committee, which is investigating possible institutionalization of the practice.
